According to Cars.com research, these two models are closely related in price. While the Hyundai Elantra costs a bit less, you'll see from the following areas that it offers less performance and lacks some of the other features which are standard in the Subaru Impreza.


The 2017 Subaru Impreza offers a 2.0-liter engine which produces 152 horsepower. In comparison, the 2017 Hyundai Elantra also has a 2.0-liter engine, but offers only 147 horsepower.

Fuel Efficiency

These two vehicles are nearly neck-in-neck in regards to fuel efficiency. The Subaru Impreza averages 27 mpg and the Hyundai Elantra averages 29 mpg.


All-wheel drive is standard with the Impreza but the Elantra has front-wheel drive only. Additionally, driver and passengers enjoy more head, hip, shoulder and legroom in the front seats of the Impreza and more hip, shoulder and legroom in the rear seats.

Cruise control is standard in the Subaru Impreza but optional in the Hyundai Elantra. You'll also enjoy standard front and rear carpeted mats which are only optional in the Hyundai Elantra. Two front LCD screens and Bluetooth is also standard in the Impreza, but not in the Elantra.
